The first meeting of the Transcendentalist Club was Sept. 19, 1836. This reform movement in Unitarianism expanded it beyond the confines of Christianity. It led to the struggle for abolition of Slavery and the promotion of women's rights. Transcendentalism also contained a reverence for nature.
